Under the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), contractors deduct money from a subcontractor’s payments and pass it to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

The deductions count as advance payments towards the subcontractor’s tax and National Insurance.

Contractors must register for the scheme though subcontractors do not have to register. However, deductions are taken from their payments at a higher rate if they are not registered.

Projections

Stallion Accountancy Business PlansOne problem with accounts is that the information they contain is historical.

However, the business owner may want to know about the current financial performance of their business. They can then identify any issues now and correct them now. This is better than finding out about a problem that occurred sometime in the past.

Projections and management accounts can therefore be useful. Projections for the year ahead can be prepared. These can then be tailored for the future plans of the business.

As time passes, management accounts can also be prepared. The performance of the business is then compared to the initial projections. In this way, the business owner can measure how their business is performing now. This identifies any issues that may arise. The owner can then take action to correct any problems now before they become a major problem.
